ASFF Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2013
An established and dynamic player on the UK film festival circuit, the Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) is a celebration of independent film from across the world, and an outlet for championing and supporting short filmmaking. The festival champions filmmaking talent from across the world, spanning all genres from Comedy to Drama; Animation to Documentary and Art to Experimental Films.
Hosted by Aesthetica Magazine, the festival places screenings across York, from shops to Universities, ancient monuments to medieval buildings, showing around 300 films along with master classes from leading film luminaries.
My job is to document the festival. From the packed out and pitch black screenings, to visiting international film makers, members of the paying public and awards ceremonies, it all gets covered. Certainly my favourite documentary photography gig of the year, I was delighted to be brought back once again and was very happy to have my apprentice Brodie on site as a festival volunteer and drinking partner once the event wrapped.
I made lots of new friends this year and saw so many amazing films – if you weren’t there, make sure you are around York in November 2014 and fingers crossed, I’ll see you there.
